The death toll due to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak in India has increased to three after an elderly patient suffering from the infection died on Tuesday (17 March).
The 64-year-old patient suffering from coronavirus died at Mumbai’s Kasturba Hospital, reports ANI.
This is the first fatality due to the disease from Maharashtra, which has seen the highest number of confirmed coronavirus patients at around 39, out of a total of over 120 plus cases in the country.
The two earlier deaths due to the Coronavirus infection were reported from Karnataka and Delhi, respectively.
Meanwhile, the central government has banned the entry of more international passengers coming to the country to curb the spread of the Coronavirus, reports Live Mint.
Earlier today (17 March), the Centre restricted the entry of passengers from Afghanistan, Philippines, and Malaysia to India, according to a travel advisory.
The deadly virus, which originated in China’s Wuhan city, has killed over 6,600 people globally with confirmed cases of infection exceeding 1.67 lakh.
