A Century For Brahmos: L&T Delivers 100th Indigenously Built Transport Launch Canister

BySwarajya Staff

The hundredth set of BrahMos Transport-Storage Launch Canister (TLC) has been delivered to Brahmos Aerospace Private Limited (BAPL) by L&T Defence. The TLC was manufactured at the L&T Defenece’s recently-augmented manufacturing facility at Ranoli, Vadodara in Gujarat, reports Defence News.

The canister, designed for storage, transportation and launch of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, has been manufactured using indigenous materials and processes.

According to the report, keeping in mind the stringent requirements of long term storing of missiles in launch-ready conditions, the TLC requires specialised manufacturing processes of automated winding with distinctive layers made out of glass and carbon pre-impregnated fibre materials.

In order to cater to the serial production requirements of BrahMos Weapon System, the add-on production line for BrahMos TLC at Ranoli in Vadodara of Gujarat was opened by L&T in July last year.

As per the report, the advanced composites manufacturing facility at Ranoli is already attested for serial production of BrahMos composites canisters and airframes.

It is accredited with National Aerospace and Defence Contractors Accreditation Program (NADCAP) for aerospace products while its advanced composites laboratory at Ranoli has received the accreditation certification from National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL).
