SpaceX has signed the first space tourist for its upcoming manned mission, The Hindu BusinessLine has reported. The company tweeted the news from its official handle. However, it did not reveal the person who has signed. The price paid by the two tourists has also not been revealed. It has saved the suspense for 17 September.
Further, the company said, “Only 24 humans have been to the Moon in history. No one has visited since the last Apollo mission in 1972”. SpaceX will be deploying Big Falcon Rocket (BFR) for the mission. In February 2018, the space company had declared that it would send two space tourists by end of 2018.
US President Donald Trump has also expressed the desire to send American astronauts to the moon again. Since 2011 US astronauts have not travelled to the International Space Station from US soil. This will resume once SpaceX’s manned missions take off.
