AAP Not To Be Part Of 2019 Mahagathbandhan, Says Parties Have Played No Role In Country’s Development

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal yesterday (9 August) told the press that his party will not be part of the Mahagthbandhan, saying that the parties that are banding together for an opposition alliance for 2019 have played no part in the country, Deccan Chronicle has reported.

He announced that the AAP will not be part of any alliance for 2019, as quoted in the report.

The development comes as a blow to the opposition parties’ efforts to forge an anti-BJP alliance which has already having trouble deciding its prime ministerial candidate for the polls.

Kejriwal however, blamed the Central government for the slow pace of development in Delhi. He also questioned Haryana Chief Minister (CM), Manohar Khattar why his state was lagging in development despite full statehood.

The Delhi CM and AAP have repeatedly stressed that Delhi needs to be granted full statehood for the party to function properly. The claim has been countered by the BJP and Congress.

The AAP chief, however, was yesterday criticised for having splurged Rs 1.85 lakh for his two-hour stay in Bengaluru’s Taj West End for Karnataka CM Kumaraswamy’s swearing-in ceremony.
