BJP candidate from Okhla assembly constituency, Braham Singh, is leading by 194 votes, according to the initial trends on Election Commission of India website.
This comes after AAP candidate Amanatullah Khan claimed that he was leading in the constituency with over 65 thousand votes. Since Tuesday (11 February) morning, confusion prevailed over the trends from Okhla constituency as Khan kept claiming his lead, while the ECI had not issued initial trends for the seat.
"After counting of rounds, I am leading by 65546 votes," Amanatullah tweeted.
Shaheen Bagh, the venue of the ongoing anti-CAA protest and a part of Okhla constituency, had witnessed a low voter turnout with 58.84 per cent voting.
Okhla seat was seen a battle-field of gladiators from the Congress and the AAP with Congress puting faith in veteran Parvez Hashmi, a four-time MLA from the constituency.
The seat was with the Congress till 2015 when the AAP's Amanatullah wrested it after defeating veteran Asif Mohammad Khan.
However, as per initial trends, the Congress seems to have slipped to the third position.
