The Kerala Jama’ath Council has expelled activist Rehana, who tried to enter Sabarimala with police protection along with a reporter from Hyderabad, for challenging the beliefs of the Hindu community and hurting their sentiments, reports The Times of India.

The Kerala Muslim Jama’ath Council has directed the Ernakulam Central Muslim Jama’ath (CMJ) to expel Rehana and her family from the Muslim community.

Advocate A Pookkunju, State President of Kerala Muslim Jama-ath Council, in a press release, announced the decision. “Hurting and violating the belief system of millions of devotees of Hindu community, Rehana Fathima, carrying a Muslim name, stands expelled from the Muslim community”, says the press release.

Taking part in ‘kiss of love’ and ‘acting nude in a movie’ are other charges levelled against Rehana. The Council also directed the Central Muslim Jama’ath, Eranakulam, to expel her and her family from the Mahallu membership.

The council has also urged the police to take action against the woman for offences under 153A (hurting religious sentiments). Calling the woman a sociopath, the council also slammed police for promoting and escorting her to the sanctum of Sabarimala.

“Police IG allowed anti-social elements to don police uniform and create chaos in the temple. This is a clear violation of the police manual,” said Pookkunju. ” A case should be registered against IG S Sreejith for allowing anti-social elements to wear police jackets and carry lathis,” he added.

Reports suggest that a case has been registered against Rehana Fathima for putting up social media posts that are “communally divisive” in nature.
