On Saturday (20 February), late actor Sushant Singh Rajput was awarded with the Critic's Best Actor accolade at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2021.
The official Instagram account of Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival announced the award and wrote, "Celebrating the dedication you've shown on the way to this achievement. Congratulations to Late Sushant Singh Rajput for winning the Critic's Best Actor award at Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2021. We miss you!"
Rajput was known for his roles in Zee TV's serial Pavitra Rishta and debut movie Kai Po Che. His last film was Dil Bechara opposite Sanjana Sanghi released in July last year after his death.
The young actor died in his apartment last year on 14 June in what was dubbed as suicide by hanging.
The father and sisters of Sushant had challenged the same and registered an FIR in a Patna court against his former girlfriend and actor Rhea Chakraborty, and her brother Showik Chakraborty, for abetment to suicide and siphoning his assets.
The investigation into the case involves three central agencies - the Central Bureau of Investigation, Enforcement Directorate, and Narcotics Control Bureau - and has touched upon different issues including harassment, drug use etc. plaguing the Bollywood industry.
