Following a surge of support for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal during the Lok Sabha elections, in which it managed to clinch 18 of the state’s 42 seats, the party now plans to send 10 lakh post cards with the message ‘Jai Shri Ram’ on them to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s residence, reports Times Now News.
"We have decided to send 10 lakh post cards with 'Jai Shri Ram' written on them to the chief minister's residence," said BJP MP from Barrackpur Arjun Singh.
The party has taken the decision following a police lathi-charge of its workers who were using the slogan while demonstrating outside the residence of Trinamool minister Sujit Bose in Kanchrapara.
Chanting Jai Shri Ram has become a major symbol of protest in the state after videos surfaced of Banerjee getting out of her vehicle and losing her cool when people people used the slogan while her cavalcade was passing.=
