Hours after Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje announced cuts in the state sales tax, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had joined the bandwagon by reducing the diesel and petrol by Rs 2 per litre in state reports Money Control.
The order is supposed to take effect on Tuesday (11 September), after which Andhra will become the second state after Rajasthan in slashing petrol prices. The price cut is supposed to cost almost Rs 1,200 crore dear to the Andhra Government a year.
Rajasthan State Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje announced that sales taxes on petrol would come down to 26 per cent from the earlier 30 per cent and 22 per cent to 18 per cent for diesel. The announcement came soon after the prices of petrol and diesel saw a record high on yesterday.
