Amar Singh Marches to Rampur With His ‘Kshatriya’ Identity, Says United Hindutva Will Gobble Azam Khan Like ‘Rasgulla’

Former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh has said that Hindutva is a divided house, Amar Ujala reported. Continuing his war of words against SP leadership, especially senior leader Azam Khan, this time in Rampur, Singh even clarified that his reference to Hindutva does not include Hindus alone, it includes patriotic Muslims as well.

Singh was speaking in Rampur, which is known as senior SP leader Azam Khan's electoral stronghold. Singh was in Rampur, as stated by him earlier this week, to “offer himself in sacrifice for the safety of his daughters”.

The report adds that Singh, after accusing Khan of threatening his family, even produced a disk, which contains the statement, allegedly made by Khan, on harming his daughters.

Continuing his tirade against Khan, Singh used Rasgulla, a dessert, as a metaphor for Hindutva. He said that Hindutva would gobble Khan like a Rasgulla the day it stands united. Singh mentioned that he is not anti-Muslim, but opposes those people who live in India but have a liking for Pakistan.

News 18 reported that the mere mention of Khan in Singh's statements at the Rampur press conference was enough to trigger a brawl between supporters of both leaders. Singh and Khan supporters, the report adds, flung tables and chairs at each other.

According to the same report, Singh had said before going to Rampur for the press conference, “Azam Khan is a Bahubali (a person exercising tremendous clout) I am ready to sacrifice myself if he is ready to sacrifice me. On Thursday, I am not going to Rampur for any violence”.

On Wednesday (29 August), the report mentions, Singh had met UP Governor Ram Naik and CM Yogi Adityanath. At the meeting, he raised concern regarding the controversial statements made by Khan.

Interestingly, in Rampur, Singh also referred to him being a Kshatriya. “Kshatriya hoon, apni baat se peechhe nahin hatoonga” (I am Kshatriya. I won't step back from my words). At a previous press conference, Singh had made oblique references to SP leadership, while directly attacking Khan.

Zee News reported that Singh clarified that he is not an “opportunist”. He trained guns at Khan once again and said that while Khan called him “opportunist”, he “himself became a minister, his wife became a Rajya Sabha MP, his son an MLA and he (Azam), the chancellor of Mohammad Ali Jauhar University”. Singh also referred to his exit from SP. ”I had not left SP, I did not come out (from the SP), I was thrown out,” he said.

As Singh continues to throw verbal ammunition at Khan, the war of words between the two leaders, Singh's accusations, Khan's statements and SP's reactions to Singh's crisp dialogues, keep the spark in UP politics intact.
