Online video streaming platform, Amazon Prime has the lowest rates in India, as per a study conducted by Comparitech Limited, reports Mint. Amazon Prime subscription in India, which costs Rs 129 per month is the least out of the 28 countries.
“If we compare the overall cost per month of around the world, India is by far the cheapest place to get it. At the cost of just $1.76 (£1.37) per month, it’s $11.23 or £4.62 cheaper than the US or UK, respectively,” the study said. Prime Users can avail movies, shows and documentaries avail from 2,351 titles.
The study by the technology research firm shows Indian subscribers also pay one of the lowest rates per title. The survey which researched country-by-country comparison of subscription price and library size, found Indian users pay 137 per cent less than the worldwide average on a per title basis.
In India, Amazon Prime Video is 115 per cent cheaper than the average in the study. While Indians pay just Rs 129 per month, Americans spend $12.99 monthly for a monthly subscription of Amazon Prime Video, the study reveals. Japan, Brazil, Australia and Mexico follow India in the cheapest list.
USA top the list of most expensive countries to watch Amazon Prime Video, followed by Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the UK. However, Americans get value for their money, as the US version of Prime includes over 1,300 TV shows and around 17,000 movies. Singapore, which is on the other end of the list, has 700 titles, about 25 times less than the USA.
