Amid Mass Cabinet Resignations, Digvijay Singh Says Could Not Contact Scindia As He Is Suffering From Swine Flu

Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh in the early hours of Tuesday (10 March) claimed that the party had tried to establish contact with incognito leader Jyotiraditya Scindia but failed to do so as he is said to be suffering from Swine flu.

Incidentally a few hours earlier media reports had recorded Scindia returning back to his residence.

This comment from Singh came after it was reported that all state cabinet ministers in the Kamal Nath led Madhya Pradesh government tendered their resignation in a possible bid to accommodate the 17 MLAs (including six ministers) who have gone incognito.

As per Congress leaders, this move would help the party reconstitute the state cabinet to help tackle the crisis brewing in the state. Another Congress leader was seen putting up a brave face by claiming that the Madhya Pradesh led Congress government is safe.

Incidentally, in July last year all Congress and JD(S) MLAs too had tendered their resignations in Karnataka to make room for dissidents in the Kumaraswamy led government but it ultimately ended up collapsing.

Earlier yesterday (10 March) it was reported that 17 Congress MLAs loyal to Jyotiraditya Scindia had gone untraceable with claims being made that 10 of them landed in BJP ruled Karnataka.

The Madhya Pradesh Congress witnessed a political slugfest over the last few weeks, giving a scare to the Congress state government.

Scindia and Nath have fallen out over the post of the state Congress president, which is currently held by the chief minister.
