Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday (18 June) allocated work to the two junior ministers in North Block, over two weeks after they took charge of the ministry with him on 1 June.
While keeping the charge of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) with himself, Shah has distributed the management of the other departments among two of his deputies - ministers of state G Kishan Reddy and Nityanand Rai, reports The Hindu. The former home minister Rajnath Singh also had the IB report directly to him.
According to the report, Nityanand Rai has been given the charge of the Left-wing Extremism division, Centre-State relations, border management, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and the Foreigners Division while G Kishan Reddy will look after the Jammu and Kashmir and Northeast divisions among others.
Besides IB, Shah will also look after all the decisions involving Cabinet ministers and the President’s house.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a recent meeting, had appealed his cabinet ministers to assign more responsibilities to their juniors so that they can earn how the government functions and don’t feel being sidelined.
