Andhra Pradesh: State Government To Offer Rs 15,000 A Year To Women Sending Their Children To School

The Jagan Mohan Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh will be providing annual assistance of Rs 15,000 to women in the state who send their children to high school or intermediary level college, under the Amma Vodi scheme, reports The Indian Express.

“The students should be capable of securing a job soon after graduation. We want to develop education standards with an eye on industry requirement. We are offering schemes such as Amma Vodi and 100 per cent fee reimbursement for ensuring education to all,” Jagan said about the ambitious drive of his government.

Jagan added that he was ready to spare any amount of budget to the scheme and asked the officials to prepare the blueprint.

Speaking at the meeting at his camp office, the Chief Minister said the State government would take every possible measure to develop all the government schools and colleges in the State.

Addressing a meeting of an expert committee constituted to devise an education policy for the state, the state human resource development (HRD) minister Adimulapu Suresh said, “The government is offering Rs 15,000 a year to the women who send their children to schools under Amma Vodi scheme, a first of its kind initiative,”

The expert panel has been constituted under the chairmanship of N Balakrishna, professor of Indian Institute of Science and Research, Bengaluru.
