Karnataka Home Minister and senior Congress leader R Ramalinga Reddy on Thursday (7 December) compared the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with the Islamic State and said its leaders are behaving like terrorists, Republic TV has reported.
"BJP is like the ISIS terror group and its head is Amit Shah. They are spreading terror in the state and there are enough videos in the media to prove my point. They do not understand the law and are always trying to create disturbances in the state," the channel quoted Reddy as saying.
Reddy's comments came days after the arrest of BJP Member of Parliament (MP) from the Mysuru-Kodagu region in Karnataka, for protesting against alleged restrictions on celebration of Hanuman Jayanti in Hunsur. The MP had accused the district administration of not restricting Id-e-Milad celebrations in Hunsur on Saturday while restricting the Hanuman Jayanti celebration to appease Islamists.
Reddy’s comment came amid an uproar against Congress leaders for using foul language. Congress leader Manishankar Aiyar stoked yet another acrimonious row yesterday by calling Prime Minister a "neech aadmi”.
