A week after Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei tweeted out that Israel had to be eradicated, Israeli Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu in a video on Facebook offered Iran a way out of the water scarcity it is facing.
Iran faces chronic droughts with large parts of the country always facing scarcity of water. Israel too faced similar challenges but has managed to overcome those to emerge as one of the most efficient nations in water conservation.
Lately, Israeli success in irrigation have led to its technologies being sought after by several water scarce nations, including India.
“Now, Israel also has water challenges. We’ve developed cutting edge technologies to address them. Israel recycles nearly 90 per cent of its waste water. That’s far more than any other country on earth. We invented drip irrigation. Our technology targets individual plants with exactly the nutrients they need for the plant” the Israeli PM said.
“Israel has the know-how to prevent environmental catastrophe in Iran. I want to share this information with the people of Iran,” he added.
However, he lamented that the Iranian regime wouldn’t take the offer kindly. Hence the only solution the Israelis have, is to reach out the people directly. He said that in its efforts to help the 50 million Iranian people who are prone to water scarcity, Israel will setup a Farsi language website with detailed water management plans for Iran.
“The people of Iran are good and decent. They shouldn’t have to face such a cruel regime alone. We are with you. We will help so that millions of Iranians don’t have to suffer. The hatred of Iran’s regime will not stop the respect and friendship between our two peoples,” Netanyahu said as quoted by the Times of Israel.
