Bangladesh’s Covid-19 Tally Increases To 11,719 With Biggest Single-Day Spike Of 790 New Cases

The number of new COVID-19 infections in Bangladesh rose by 790 on Wednesday (6 May), the highest daily increase since 8 March.

Nasima Sultana, a senior Health Ministry official, said in an online press conference that "790 new COVID-19 positive cases and three deaths were reported in the last 24 hours across Bangladesh."

She said the number of confirmed infections in the country totaled 11,719 while fatalities stood at 186, Xinhua news agency reported.

Two men and a woman died in the 24 hours to 8 am Wednesday, bringing the body count to 186, Sultana said, reports Bdnews24.

Among the latest fatalities, two were over the age of 60 while the other was between 41 and 50, according to government data.

According to the official, 6,241 samples were tested in the last 24 hours across Bangladesh.

Sultana also revealed that none Covid-19 patients have recovered from the infection in the past 24 hours.

So far, 1,403 people have recovered from the disease in the country.
