President Ram Nath Kovind announced on 31 January (Thursday) that the government is setting up seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), seven Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), 5,000 Atal Tinkering Labs and four National Institutes of Design (NIDs) to boost education standards in India.

"To improve the standard of education, the government is following a multi-dimensional approach. To secure the future of the country, it is imperative that children still studying in schools get full opportunity to transform their flight of imagination into concrete reality," said President Kovind, reports India Today.

Furthermore, he added that a Central university was also being set up in East Champaran-Motihari, the 'Karma-bhumi' of Mahatma Gandhi. The government is also opening 103 Kendriya Vidyalayas, Eklavya Model Awasiya Vidyalayas and 62 new Navodaya Vidyalayas in the quest to strengthen the education system in India.

Earlier, Union Minister for Human Resource Development (HRD) Prakash Javadekar announced the funding details for the upcoming educational institutes.
