After his candidature to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh was rejected by the election authorities for discrepancies in the nomination papers, the Samajwadi party leader Tej Bahadur Yadav has been caught in yet another controversy.
A sensationalising and undated video of Yadav has surfaced, purportedly showing him saying that if anyone pays him Rs 50 crore, he would kill Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi within 72 hours of being handed over the sum. The video, which is reportedly unauthenticated, of the dismissed Border Security Force (BSF) jawan has since gone viral, reports Yahoo News.
Responding to the news, which was first broken by Times Now, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) condemned the utterances and said that it was stunned by the statements of Yadav.
Meanwhile, Yadav had approached Supreme Court of India on 6 May to challenge the Returning Officer's decision to reject his candidature from Varanasi given he had failed to submit a certificate on whether or not he was dismissed from the service for corruption or disloyalty to the government.
