Bulandshahr Cow-Related Violence: Court Issues Warrants Against Absconders And A Bajrang Dal Leader

Non-bailable warrants have been issued by a local court against absconders accused in the recent flare-up of violence in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, including the district convener of the Bajrang Dal, Yogesh Raj. Raj is one of the prime accused in the 3 December rampage that began after cow carcasses were found in the area, reports Deccan Chronicle.

Two individuals - a police inspector Subhod Kumar Singh and a local man Sumit, had been killed in the flare-up. As of now, the police have only been able to arrest four people.

"SIT is investigating the incident in Siyana. Some of the accused have been jailed and non-bailable warrants issued against others. We’re trying to arrest those who are absconding; if they’re not arrested soon, we will put a prize on their heads,” ANI quoted SSP Bulandshahr Prabhakar Choudhary as saying.

On 3 December, an angry mob of around 400 people had begun to riot after carcasses of 25 cows were found in a forest close to a police post. Locals alleged that some miscreants had slaughtered the cows illegally.

A post-mortem report from the aftermath of the violence revealed that gunshot wounds were responsible for the deaths, with the police inspector having been shot in the head.
