Business tycoon Ness Wadia has been sentenced to a two-year jail term in Japan for possession of drugs, India Today reports.
Ness Wadia was arrested in Japan in March, where he was caught possessing 25 grams of cannabis resin at the New Chitose Airport in the islands of Hokkaido, Financial Times had reported. The son and heir to Nusli Wadia's business empire, the Wadia Group, was later tried and sentenced for the same.
According to the report, during his arrest, he had also admitted that he also possessed cannabis, and they were meant for personal consumption.
The Kings XI Punjab co-owner had also spent time in detention before he was indicted on 20 March. He also was in custody for an undisclosed time before a court hearing. In 2014, his ex-girlfriend and actress Preity Zinta accused him of molestation. The case was then withdrawn.
