CBI Files Case Against Lalu Prasad, Rabri Devi And Son Tejashwi Yadav Over 2006 IRCTC Contract

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday registered a case against former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on the allegations of awarding a tender for development, maintenance and operation of Hotels at Ranchi and Puri to a private company dealing with hotels in the year 2006.

The CBI has also registered a case against the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief's wife Rabri Devi, son Tejashwi Yadav, a former managing director of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, two directors of a private company and a private marketing company. Searches are being conducted today at 12 locations including Delhi, Patna, Ranchi, Puri and Gurgaon.

According to the Times of India, it is alleged that the hospitality group gave two acres of land in Patna to a firm patronised by Lalu, in exchange for the hotels.

Lalu served as Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009 under the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government headed by Manmohan Singh.
