Promoting Carnatic Music In Europe: CCParis Organises Nritya Naada Event In Paris To Celebrate Vijayadashami

The Carnatic Conservatory of Paris (CCParis), an organisation dedicated to promoting Carnatic Music, organised the ‘Nritya Naada’, dance performance with live orchestration, event in Paris to celebrate Vijayadashami.

CCParis, founded by Bhavana Pradyumna and her husband Pradyumna Kandadai, has till date organised ten different event in two countries and has given a platform for more than forty artists in the last five years.

With an aim to promote diversity and harmony through music and dance, the CCParis has brought together people from across different nationalities like Indians, French, Europeans, British, Sri Lankans, Azerbaijaini, Taiwanese, Africans and more.

The CCParis organises two events annually: ‘Paris Tyagaraja Aradhana’ and ‘Nritya Naada’.

“This year we have started a new series ‘Sanaatana’. Through Sanaatana, we aim to provide a platform to touring artists. The event would be presented in Sanskrit and French languages, to celebrate the special Indo-French relationship” said Bhavana Pradyumna, founder President of CCParis.

“In recognition of our continued efforts to contribute to the Indian culture, and to the French society, we were delighted to receive High Patronage from Indian embassy in France, for all the CCParis events organized in the year 2019” said Pradyumna Kandadai, the secretary of CCParis.

CCParis has presented Composition of Lalgudi Jayaraman, Madurai Muralidharan and Chitravina Ravikiran. On the centenary birth anniversary of MS Subbalakshmi, the CCParis had paid tribute to the legendary Carnatic singer by presenting dance for the songs popularised by her.

The theme for this year’s ‘Nritya Naada’ event, presented in association with Maison de l’Inde (MDL), was compositions of Dr M Balamuralikrishna (BMK).

At the event, students of Bhavana Pradyumna, from different Nationalities, presented Compositions on Ganapati, Saraswati and a composition of Dr BMK.

The Bharatanatyam recital was performed by a French Dancer Anusha Cherer, who performed a Dr BMK pushpanjali in raga Arabhi and Varnam in raga Shanmukhapriya Omkaara Pranava in Adi talam. Bharatanatyam recital was supported by Bhavana Pradyumna on Vocal and Nattuvangam, Venkatkrishnan Sundaram on Mridangam and Pragash Parameswaralingam on Violin.

It was followed by Jayadeva’s Ashtapadi Yaahi Madhava and ended with Dr BMK’s popular Tillana, Kadanakutoohala, for the delight of an august audience.

The director of MDL SowmyaLakshmi Rasika was the chief guest and was highly appreciative of the efforts of CCP, and of the ‘Nritya Nada’.
