The chartered accountant (CA) of controversial ‘Islamic Banker’ Mansoor Khan who has been accused of duping thousands of investors by running a Ponzi scheme worth over Rs 1,500 crore was grilled by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Sunday (16 June), New Indian Express has reported.
The CA who was sought after by various high-profile clients for his services is now instead being sought after by the ED and state police over their investigation into the Ponzi scheme.
Mansoor Khan is reported to have fled to to Dubai before the first complaint was filed against him in the case. The number of complaints have now increased to 23,000. It has been alleged that he was able to escape with the help of local authorities.
Mansoor, the managing director of IMA Jewels, had secured investment from over 1 lakh investors, mostly belonging to the poorer sections of the society.
