Vodafone-Idea Limited (VIL) and Bharti Airtel together have lost 29.6 million users in March against February while Reliance Jio gained 9.4 million users, the NDTV Gadgets reports.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) reveals the total wireless subscriber base fell to 1,161.8 million, losing a significant 21.87 million over the previous month. The report also showed that India declined to 90.11 at the end of March losing 1.75 per cent subscribers.
In a statement release, a TRAI spokesperson said: “Total wireless subscribers declined from 1,183.68 million at the end of Feb-19 to 1,161.81 million at the end of Mar-19, thereby registering a monthly decline rate of 1.85 per cent.”
VIL, post their merger, continues to lead the market with a total subscriber base of 394.8 million (33.98 per cent) compared to Bharti Airtel’s 325.1 million (27.99 per cent).
Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio stood at third with 306.7 million (26.40 per cent), followed by state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has 9.96 per cent of the market share.
