Chhattisgarh: Former CM Ajit Jogi Praises PM Narendra Modi For Clean India, Rural Housing And Global Leadership

Former chief minister of Chhattisgarh Ajit Jogi has said that he is not among those having a completely negative view of Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi and praised the PM for his Clean India campaign, rural housing scheme and global leadership, Times of India has reported.

According to the report, Jogi and his son Amit were expelled from the Congress and formed Janta Congress Chattisgarh (JCC) three years ago. He has reportedly decided to back the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

“I am not one among those who think that Modi is a total disaster,” Jogi was quoted in the report as saying.

As per the former CM, there are at least three areas in which PM Modi has left notable impact all over the country. He said the first area where the Prime Minister has been successful and effective is Swacch Bharat Abhiyan. “People of Chhattisgarh, especially womenfolk and poor families, are very happy about it,” he said, as reported by TOI.

Jogi said another field where Modi has made a huge difference in the quality of life is rural housing. The former CM, comparing his former party’s Indira Awaas Yojana with Modi’s scheme, said, “What we were giving was not enough and to a very few. What he is providing is respectable and to a large number.”

The third factor, the tribal leader, said, “Internationally, he has emerged as a leader who counts. He is not one of the prime ministers who outside the country will not be taken cognizance of.”

On the negative aspects of Modi government, Jogi alleged that the social fabric of the nation has been hit severely and people of the country are having trust issues with each other.

However, the former CM also criticised Congress for including a chapter on Jammu and Kashmir in its manifesto along with issues like Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and sedition laws.
