Chinese Troops Intruded Into Indian Territory 14 Times In 14 Days This August, Came 10 To 18 Km Inside

Nearly a year after the 73-day stand-off in Doklam, China violated the Line of Actual Control (LAC) 14 times in 14 days, India Today has reported.

According to the channel, a report prepared by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), which guards a large part of the LAC with China, says that the troops of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) came 10 to 18 kilometre inside Indian territory in August this year.

All of these incursions were reported at three locations in Ladakh - Daulat Beg Oldi, Pangong Tso Lake and Depsang Plains - between 4 and 19 August. Depsang saw the highest number of incursion at six. On one of these occasions, PLA troops travelled about 18 km into the Indian territory. Five incursions were reported in the Pangong Tso area and the remaining in Daulat Beg Oldi.

In Daulat Beg Oldi, the Chinese troops pitched a few tents and removed them only after the Indian Army intervened. One of these tents remains in the region and the Chinese say that it belongs to the shepherds in the area.

Interestingly, these incursions came at a time when India and China held two Border Personnel Meeting at separate locations in Eastern Ladakh.

An incursion was also reported in Demchok of eastern Ladakh in the early days of the same month. Chinese troops crossed over to the Indian side pretending to be nomads grazing their cattle, came 500 meters into Indian territory and refused to leave despite a banner drill by the Indian Army.
