International travellers landing in Beijing will be quarantined for 14 days at their own expense, authorities in the Chinese capital announced on Sunday, South China Morning Post reported.
Last Tuesday, Beijing claimed six new confirmed cases of the coronavirus, all of which it said were imported cases, including five from Italy and one from the United States.
All all passengers arriving in Beijing from overseas will be required to self-quarantine, either at home or in a designated facility, for two complete weeks.
The whole wing of Terminal 3 of the International Airport has been cordoned off. The authorities have also set up a transportation hub at New China International Exhibition Centre, near the airport, deploying a dedicated fleet of cars to drive arriving passengers to their homes or designated facilities for medical observation.
As per official numbers, 3,199 people have died in China from Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, with more than 80,000 infected.
