CPM has reportedly started to target BJP representatives in Kerala in an attempt to thwart potential gains by the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
As per a report in the Organiser, the Kerala police has slapped 242 cases against BJP candidate K Surendran, who is contesting from Pathanamthitta constituency. All these cases are related to his Sabarimala activism.
Surendran was active during the Sabarimala protests and had 20 cases filed against him. He has received bail in all these cases. Now owing to the new 242 cases filed against him, Surendran now has to submit new election documents.
The BJP has called it an undemocratic move by the communist establishment and claims that various political observers have predicted the party’s victory from Pathanamthitta which is making the LDF government nervous.
Incidentally, the BJP’s candidate from Kozhikode, Advocate Prakashbabu was arrested a few days ago in connection with the Sabarimala protests. He thus had to move a petition to get permission to file his nominations.
