Congress’ Old Guard Falls In Karnataka As Mallikarjun Kharge, Veerappa Moily Get Defeated By BJP

Karnataka is turning saffron with BJP in the lead in 24 out of total 28 constituencies in the state. Congress is leading in two seats while Kumaraswamy-led JD(S) is leading in one seat. BJP’s vote share in the state stands over 50 per cent.

The capital city Bengaluru showed support to BJP. In Bangalore central, P C Mohan has won in Bangalore North, D V Sadananda Gowda is leading. In Bangalore South, BJP’s young candidate Tejaswi Surya is maintaining a steller lead by a margin of 2.74 lakh votes. All three are BJP candidates. However, in Bangalore rural, Congress candidate D K Suresh is leading by a margin of around 1.9 lakh votes.

M Veerappa Moily of Congress has lost Chikkaballapur. In Dharwad, BJP’s Prahlad Joshi is leading against Congress’s Vinay Kulkarni. In Gulbarga, Congress candidate and leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge has been defeated by Umesh Jadhav of BJP.

In Mandya, Karnataka chief minister’s son Nikhil Kumaraswamy has lost to Sumalatha Ambareesh. H.D. Devegowda of JD(S) is also trailing in Tumkur, with BJP’s G.S. Basavaraj maintaining a lead by a margin of 28,500 votes.In Mysore, BJP’s Pratap Simha is leading with a margin of 96,457 votes.
