Coronavirus: Nearly 50 Per Cent Of Covid-19 Positive Patients In Bengaluru Have Recovered

BySwarajya Staff

In a positive development, nearly 50 per cent of the people who had tested positive for coronavirus in Bengaluru have recovered and are back home, reports Times of India.

It should be noted that Bengaluru is one of the two virus hotspots in Karnataka. The tech capital has reported 76 cases so far including three deaths.

As per the data from state health and family welfare department, thirty-five covid-19 positive patients have been discharged after recuperating.

Bengaluru is displaying high rate of covid-19 recovery rate with respect to other metro cities. For instance, only 10 per cent of the patients in Mumbai have recovered, while Delhi’s figure is 3 per cent.

“The recovery rate is a silver lining for frontline healthcare professionals engaged in containing the viral spread. This is also an indication of the right treatment protocols that have been put in place by Karnataka,” said deputy chief minister CN Ashwath Narayan.

“Unlike in some big cities, screening and isolation of people with Covid-19 symptoms has been more efficient in Bengaluru. We are not leaving anything to chance and that’s the reason the number of positive cases in Bengaluru has been low, even though over 1 lakh people returned to the city from abroad after the virus started spreading in China,” a senior IAS officer was quoted as saying in the report.
