BySwarajya Staff

In a major development, the Karnataka state government is trying to identify a large hospital which can be converted into a dedicated facility for tackling coronavirus cases, reports Times of India.

Minister for medical education, K Sudhakar informed that after such identification, the government would convert the facility, preferably with around 300-400 beds, within 10 days.

Sudhakar visited the new Covid-19 isolation block at Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Chest Diseases (RGICD) and was sprayed with disinfectant from head to toe and asked to wear mark before inspecting the wards.

Speaking to reporters after the visit, he reportedly said, “I will visit two or three more hospitals, and after discussion with the medical officials, the government will finalise a dedicated hospital for coronavirus.”

During his visit, he also assured the patients of quality medical care and full governmental support. He also added that the doctors and nurses were available 24 hours and there was no need to panic.
