Coronavirus Update: Record 9,851 New Cases Raise India’s Covid-19 Tally To 2.26 Lakh; Here’s The Latest State-Wise Breakup

With the highest single-day spike of 9,851 new cases in the last 24 hours, India's total case count of coronavirus jumped to 226,770, the Union Health Ministry data revealed on Friday (5 June).

According to the Health Ministry, of the total, 110,960 are active cases while at least 109,462 people have been cured of the disease.

At least 273 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total fatality count to 6,348.

Maharashtra, which has emerged as the worst Coronavirus-hit state in the country, has so far recorded 77,793 cases, including 2,710 fatalities, and 33,681 recoveries. Tamil Nadu followed with 27,526 cases. The Covid-19 tally in Delhi has crossed the 25,000-mark with as many as 25,004 cases recorded so far in the national capital. Gujarat has reported 18,584 cases so far.

States with most casualties after Maharashtra are Gujarat (1,155), Delhi (650), Madhya Pradesh (377), and West Bengal (355).

States with more than 8,000 cases are Rajasthan (9,862), Uttar Pradesh (9,237) and Madhya Pradesh (8,762).

Among other states/UTs where Corona cases have surged past 2,000-mark are West Bengal (6,876), Bihar (4,493), Karnataka (4,320), Andhra Pradesh (4,223), Haryana (3,281, Telangana (3,147), Jammu and Kashmir (3,142), Odisha (2,478), and Punjab (2,415).

According to the Health Ministry, 7,610 cases are being re-assigned to states.
