As number of people infected with the Novel Coronavirus in India rises to 34 on Saturday, centre opened several more laboratories to test samples of suspected people taking the number to 52 labs across the country.
“There is no shortage of testing kits or other equipment for testing of samples in India. We have the capacity to conduct at least 25,000 tests currently, and we have done only about 4,000 as of now. There is no need to panic; we are fully equipped,” said a health ministry official, requesting anonymity.
Three fresh cases were reported in the country on Saturday (7 March) as two people from Ladakh and one from Tamil Nadu tested positive. As per the Health Ministry, the Ladakh people had travelled to Iran in past, whereas the patient from Tamil Nadu had returned from Oman recently.
The Ministry also informed that all three people were stable now and had been quarantined.
India as of Saturday had tested over 4,280 samples, and planned to pace up the process, with new labs starting to function.
