Delhi Chief Minister (CM) Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and 11 other Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs accused in the assault case of Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash have been summoned by a court in Delhi, reported Outlook.
At a meeting with Kejriwal at his residence, Prakash was allegedly assaulted. The incident happened on 19 February. The summons were issued by the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vishal after he took cognisance of the charge sheet filed by Delhi police on 13 August.
The court believes that there are sufficient grounds to hold charges against the accused. The charge sheet names 11 MLAs including Amanatullah Khan, Prakash Jarwal, Nitin Tyagi, Rituraj Govind, Sanjeev Jha, Ajay Dutt, Rajesh Rishi, Rajesh Gupta, Madan Lal, Parveen Kumar and Dinesh Mohania.
On 25 August, the court rejected a plea filed by Kejriwal and others seeking a gag order in the case. The court needed time to read through the 1,300-page charge sheet. On 18 May, the Delhi police questioned Arvind Kejriwal for over three hours in relation to the case.
The incident led to two AAP MLAs- Amanatullah Khan and Prakash Jarwal being arrested.
