A large crowd gathered near the anti-citizenship amendment act (CAA) site near Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh after the cops cleared the protest venue this morning, ANI has reported.
The Delhi Police today morning (24 March) cleared the Shaheen Bagh protest venue after the anti-CAA agitators encroached a public road 101 days ago. At least nine people were taken into custody by the cops.
This action by the Delhi police came after the Shaheen Bagh protesters turned down repeated appeals to vacate the site.
Delhi is currently in lockdown to combat the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. Section 144 has been imposed across the city.
Besides Shaheen Bagh, the Delhi police also cleared the protest site outside Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) and is using drones to monitor the situation.
