Delhi Metro Phase IV To Connect Most Of The Remote Areas Of National Capital Within Five Years

Delhi Metro’s Phase IV, which will take the metro to the far flung areas of Delhi, is likely to be completed in 5 years, once Delhi government and central government give their approval to the project, Metro Rail News has reported.

The new interchange points coming up on the project will provide the commuters with more options and reduce their journey time.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) board is expected to meet next week to look into the cost of the phase IV, as asked by the Delhi government, and resend the amended for consideration of state cabinet.

The fourth phase of Delhi metro is likely to have 6 new corridors among which the longest 23 km Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg line will connect west, northwest and north Delhi.

The 20 km Tuglakabad-Aerocity line will connect south Delhi to the Indira Gandhi international airport. Majlis Park-Maujpur corridor which is 12.5 km long will connect the north and northwest Delhi.

Inderlok-Indraprastha line will connect north part of Delhi with the central parts of the national capital. The line will cover a distance of 12.6 km. Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block corridor will be 8 km long and connect the proposed Tuglakabad-Aerocity corridor to the existing magenta and pink line.

The 21.7 km Rithala-Narela line, which is an extension of the existing red line, will be the only corridor in Phase four without an interchange point. It will provide connecting to the Delhi-Haryana bordering areas.
