‘Delhi Police Set Bus On Fire’: Malicious Fake News Busted As Vehicle In Question Found Safe In Depot

BySwarajya Staff

On Sunday (16 December) even as anti-CAB mobs were rampaging in the streets of Delhi by burning buses (while passengers were still inside) and vandalising public property under the garb of “student protests”, their tacit supporters led by Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia made a vicious claim.

Sisodia in a tweet alleged that it was the Delhi police which was involved in burning buses, as part of BJP’s dirty politics.

Sisodia alleged that, “Look at this photo, look who is setting the bus on fire. This is the biggest proof of BJP’s dirty politics, will its leaders answer”.

This allegation by Sisodia was parroted by many of his supporters who proceeded to attack Delhi police and the BJP government at the centre.

While this narrative was being peddled, various journalists busted the rumours by pointing out that the said videos and pictures doing the round were of the cops desperately trying to douse the fire by pouring water, before the entire vehicle caught fire.

Another journalist posted a video which clearly showed that the cops were pouring water on the bus seats in an attempt to douse stray fires.

The conspiracy theory has now been deal a death blow as the bus which was purportedly burnt by Delhi police has now been seen standing safe and sound in the bus depot.

The fact though has been well established that the anti-CAB protesting crowds burnt three buses in Delhi Jamia Nagar, and in one case passengers were even inside the vehicle when a mob descended upon them.
