Delhi Metro Starts Test Run On 9.7 Km Stretch Connecting Lajpat Nagar And Mayur Vihar; Line To Open In October

The trial runs of Metro on the 9.7-km stretch of the pink line connecting Lajpat Nagar and Mayur Vihar was started on Wednesday by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), Metro Rail News has reported.
Work on Delhi Metro’s pink line connecting shopping destinations of the mega city has been completed by the DMRC. Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station will also be covered by the new pink line.
Trial runs of the metro are ongoing between Mayur Vihar Pocket - 1 and Lajpat Nagar, which is part of 59-km-long Majlis Park-Shiv Vihar corridor branded as pink line.
Mangu Singh, Managing Director of DMRC, flagged off the trial runs of the metro line.
The new route is part of the extension of the Majlis Park - Lajpat Nagar section. Metro commuters from Ashram and Mayur Vihar will be the main beneficiaries when this line opens. The Metro station at Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station will help railway passengers from various parts of the country as well as the bus passengers at the Inter-State Bus Terminal at Sarai Kale Khan.
DMRC, during these trial runs, will conduct checks ensuring that there is no physical breach with the line or the structure and test various systems and sub-systems of the coaches. The new Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) signalling technology will also be rigourously tested.
Trains will be run at various speeds to check in order to monitor how they respond, their interconnection with the operations control center and most importantly the braking of the train.
The official will also check the overhead electrification and track system behaviour during the trial runs.
If trial runs are a success, this stretch will start operating in October.
