‘Do We Not Have Human Rights?’: UP Cop Slams Anti-CAA Protesters Over Unprecedented Violence

“Do we have human rights,” asks a cop from Uttar Pradesh on twitter named Sachin Kaushik, sharing a video policemen taking cover in a small shop on the side of a road and hundreds of protesters started pelting stones on them.

Around five policemen were injured in the incident as per reports of India Today.

The protests around the country against Citizenship Amendment Act has taken a violent turn with various groups of protesters seen attacking police, damaging police vehicles, burning public property among others.

Another video posted by Asian News International showed protesters attacking a police jeep.

Yesterday, the Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow witnessed unprecedented violence on as protests over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) gained ground and the situation slowly spun out of control. Police outposts in Madehganj and Thakurganj were set on fire, media persons were attacked and five OB Vans of channels were also set ablaze.

While violence in any form in any form should be condemned, the left brigade and vested interests has been painting only half a picture with connecting police response to protesters as ‘police brutality’.
