Domestic Flights To Resume From 25 May In A Calibrated Manner, SOP For Air Travel To Be Issued Soon

Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Wednesday (10 May) tweeted that domestic passenger flights will resume in a calibrated manner from 25 May. He as a result urged all airlines and airports in the country to prepare themselves for the same.

A standard operating procedure for passenger movement will be issued by the Civil Aviation Ministry in the near future. All commercial civil aviation activity was halted in India from 25 March in light of the Covid-19 lockdown.

As per draft SOP guidelines which were earlier reported by the media, no cabin luggage will be allowed on board the flights and passengers will only be allowed to carry one check-in baggage up to 20 kg.

The flyers would also have to do compulsory web check-in before arriving at the airport and temperature checks will be conducted for all passengers.

Indian Railways has already partially started its operations by running special and shramik trains. It will additionally start operating 200 additional passenger trains from 1 June.
