Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa claimed on the floor of the assembly that he will ensure that veteran Congress leader Siddaramaiah stays in the opposition forever.
The seasoned BJP leader further asserted that he can give in writing that he will win 130-135 seats in the state legislature. The CM burst out at the opposition as they staged a boycott as he was presenting Karnataka’s budget for the upcoming financial year.
“Do we have any instance of the Opposition staging a walkout, either at the Centre or the State, during the presentation of Budget? What morality does the Congress have? I will explain this during the debate on the Budget in the assembly,” Yediyurappa asked.
He further mentioned that the opposition is incapable of facing the situation and hence giving away lame excuses. “Dear Siddaramaiah, your stay in the Opposition is permanent. Don’t call me by my name if I do not make Siddaramaiah sit in the Opposition by winning 130 to 135 seats [in the 2023 elections],” the CM fumed as quoted by the Hindu.
Siddaramaiah claimed that Yediyurappa’s government is carrying a bundle of sins and does not have a moral right to continue in power. “So we have decided to protest against the presentation of the budget,” the former CM quipped.
The Congress leader argued that objectionable CDs have been made against many state cabinet minister, referring to BJP MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi’s sex-for-job scandal. He also stated that six ministers attacked the ‘freedom for press’ by approaching the civil court to seek injunction against telecast or publication of any defamatory material against them by the media.
CM Yediyurappa said that Siddaramaiah has developed mental issues in recent times and is unaware of what to speak.
