Border Security Force (BSF) men apprehended an ex-Pakistani soldier who crossed over to the internal border into Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba sector on Wednesday, reports Indian Express.
The person under captivity is identified as Mohammad Afzal, 32. He was taken into custody near Basantar in Bengalarh area of Samba district.
Upon questioning, the Afzal said that he was a Pakistani Army regular and crossed over to the Indian side of the border after being harassed by his seniors. Afzal added that he sought voluntary retirement after being in service for nine years.
As of now, nothing incriminating has been found from him, and the interrogation is in progress. Officials also revealed that sometimes Afzal also pretends to be insane.
Frequent incursions into the Indian side of LoC and International Border used to happen from the Pakistani army regulars with terrorists. In the recent past, many incidents of the notorious Border Action Team(BAT) which comprising the mix of Pak Army commandos and terrorists crossing over the lines and killed and beheading the Indian soldiers, took place, prompting a more aggressive Indian reaction towards the Pakistanis across the front.
