Exodus Begins From Shiv Sena: 400 Grassroots Workers Quit Party To Join BJP In Mumbai

BySwarajya Staff

In a jolt to Uddhav Thackeray led Shiv Sena, around 400 party workers quit the party and joned its new rival BJP at a ceremony in Mumbai’s Dharavi, ANI has reported.

As per a Free Press Journal report, the workers were upset at the party leadership for deciding to stitch an alliance with the Congress and NCP.

As per party leader Ramesh Nair who led his fellow members to join the BJP, he has been an ardent follower of the Hindutva ideology which Shiv Sena used to overtly follow.

“I was working with Shiv Sena for 10 years. We were supporting the Hindutva ideology of Sena. I was given an office to serve people but as Sena has decided to form the government with NCP and Congress, it is not acceptable to us. Now, we all have decided to join BJP”, Nair was quoted as saying.

Soon after the Shiv Sena decided to form a new alliance, its long time party leader Ramesh Solanki had announced his decision to quit the party. While announcing his exit he stated that his conscience and ideology did not permit him to work with the Congress.
