Facebook has announced that over 400 million people are using its video-on-demand service, ‘Facebook Watch’, on a monthly basis and 75 million daily who spend at least one minute on the service, reports Tribune India.
Watch, launched in 2017, is a video service that allows users to watch videos from multiple genres, including entertainment, sports and news, in their personalised “Watch Feed”.
“Well, 2018 was a big year for Facebook Watch. Watch launched in every country around the world, the platform opened to videos from all Pages, and we debuted dozens of Facebook Originals," Fidji Simo, Head of Video, said in a blog post on Thursday (13 December).
The service, which is now also available on the desktop and Facebook lite, sees 75 million visitors spending more than 20 minutes daily.
The company has been working to bring the ‘Watch Party’ to everyone on Facebook and trying to unify the video experience across Facebook instead of watching them in multiple places like feed, search and pages.
The company also said that "Ad Breaks" are now accessible to eligible Pages in 40 countries globally.
Simo said that Ad Breaks are now available to pages in 40 countries with more freedom to advertisers to modify their video ad campaigns.
“We'll bring Ad Breaks to video creators in more countries around the world, and will test new Ad Breaks placements, like in live streams from gaming creators,” he said.
