Feet On Ground, Fly In The Sky: Bengaluru To Kick-Start Flying Course To Become Drone-Pilots Next Year

Bengaluru, the Silicon Valley in India, has another stride as it begins a new training school for those who aspire to be drone pilots in the near future. The GDCA-approved Government Flying Training School (GFTS) in Jakkur will start a new course on drone flying by next year and the duration of the course will be two weeks.

Bangalore Mirror quoted Raejus Job, the person who will be overseeing the traning as saying, “DGCA mandates that anybody who is introduced to the aviation ecosystem has a thorough knowledge about the operating systems hence the introductory session would include subjects on air traffic, flight plan, safety security, understanding of the Indian law and also, penalties. This will be followed by the simulation and practical training and a competitive exam for which DGCA has fixed 75 as the pass mark.”

Three simulators are in place for the training. No permission-No Take-off (NPNT) clearance is awaited. All those who desire to operate micro and above category drones will have to be registered on the Digital Sky Portal.

The minimum requirement is that the applicant has to be 18 years-old or more, and should have cleared the tenth board exams. The fee that has been set for obtaining the UIN (Unique Identification Number) is Rs 1000 and Rs 25,000 for UAOP (Unmanned Aircraft Operator Permit).
