E-commerce company Flipkart on Tuesday (3 September) announced the launch of 'Hindi' interface for its platform in a bid to expand its user base and further reach out to additional 200 million customers, reports Economic Times.

According to a statement released by Flipkart, the 'Hindi' interface which has been released just ahead of the festive season is an outcome of extensive research over the needs of the vernacular customers who primarily belong to Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities of India.

"We are committed to developing solutions that will help the adoption of e-commerce by the next 200 million consumers who come online. We have deployed around 80-90 per cent of our resources towards solving for Bharat with our Hindi interface being one of the biggest catalysts in this transition," said Kalyan Krishnamurthy, Flipkart Group chief executive officer.

Earlier last year, Amazon had introduced 'Hindi' interface on its platform to bring customers of the language online.

Meanwhile, Flipkart is also working on enabling audio-video based navigation features on its platform which would be launched in the upcoming phases. Flipkart is also working on introduction of many more regional languages on its platform in coming months.
