Former UP CMs Fuss Over SC Order: Mayawati Converts House To Memorial, Akhilesh Seeks 2 Years Extension

Among the former Uttar Pradesh (UP) chief ministers (CMs) who were served notices to vacate their government residences, BSP supremo Mayawati and SP leaders Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav have expressed their inability to vacate the bungalows.

The BSP supremo’s residence was seen sporting a newly-minted board declaring it as a memorial for the party’s founder Kanshi Ram. The board which was erected yesterday (21 May) declaring it as ‘Shri Kanshiram ji Yaadgar Vishraam Sthal’, as reported by the Times of India.

Akhilesh Yadav, meanwhile, has requested a two year extension in his government allotted bungalow as he has been unable to find suitable accommodation for his security detail.

In his letter to the UP estates department, Akhilesh has written that “Being the current national president of the Samajwadi Party, I have various visitors and residing in a regular residential area without making appropriate measures should be difficult.”

Akhilesh, a Z-plus protectee, resides at 4, Vikramaditya Marg in Lucknow while Mulayam Singh Yadav stays at the neighbouring 5, Vikramaditya Marg residence.

Mulayam meanwhile had met with UP CM Yogi Adityanath and handed him a letter suggesting that the two bungalows be allotted to state’s leader of the opposition in the Assembly and the Legislative Council, who’re both SP leaders. No decision has been taken on it till now, as reported by Hindustan Times.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh, however, has already vacated the bungalow while BJP leader Kalyan Singh is also likely to vacate the residence soon.
