From Computers To Commuters: Infosys Does Its Bit To Reduce Traffic, Through Pact With Chennai Metro

BySwarajya Staff

Metro Rail News has reported that Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has joined hands with IT giant Infosys to cut down the usage of cars for local transportation, and encourage public means of travel to strengthen de-congestion efforts.

As per the agreement, the employees of Infosys will be provided pick-up and drop facilities by buses to the Alandur metro station from their establishment at Mahindra World City. The plan aims to cater to the employees who work at the Sholinganallur office.

This provides an alternative to the heavy traffic that is generally observed at places like Koyambedu. CMRL has signed similar agreements with DLF, Porur, etc in order to encourage the use of public transportation facilities. Traffic issues have become a rising concern in Chennai and metro provides an alternative to the woes.

A 14-seater van has been arranged for the employees that will take them from the Alandur metro station to office area. Infosys said they are hopeful of the efforts since they observed that many employees read the notifications that were sent to them and took the initiative first. This pattern is expected to be continued in the coming days.
