Game Over For BJP In Jharkhand: Hemant Soren Led JMM-Congress-RJD Coalition To Form Next Government

It’s all over for the Raghubar Das led BJP in Jharkhand as the JMM-Congress-RJD combine led by Hemant Soren is all set to form the next government after having comfortably crossed the majority mark.

As per latest election commission data. The JMM has emerged as the single largest party with 30 seats (7 wins and 23 leads), the BJP is at the second position with 25 seats (6 wins and 19 leads), Congress at 15 (3 wins, 12 leads). RJD is leading on a solitary seat.

The JMM+ combine thus has a total of 46 seats, with the majority mark being 41. The BJP in 2014 had won 43 seats on its own accord.

Vote percentage wise it has been a lot tighter. The BJP is the single largest party with 33.7 per cent vote share and the JMM+ combine has a total of 35.66 per cent vote share, a lead of less than 2 percentage points over the BJP.

This has led many to question the party’s poor vote share to seat conversion ratio and it has been a similar story for the party in states like Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan & Karnataka in the past two years.
